A Birch Ply bookcase. The brief was maximum storage with minimum impact space-wise (but the aesthetic impact is still pretty good if you ask us). We used birch plywood for its soft subtle colour whilst keeping it interesting with the pop from the stripy end grain. This beautiful oak gazebo was hand crafted from a big pile of logs and turned into perfect space for long summer evenings. We used green oak for the structure, larch for the rafters and cladding, natural slates for the roof and finished it off with a sandstone patio. This under-stairs storage was made to utilise a HUGE and unused area of the house. We incorporated a set of double doors giving full height storage for large and tricky to hide objects, as well as power for the hoover and little cubby holes for the smaller bits and bobs. Behind the other doors is more storage pockets, hanging rails, a set of soft close drawers and even some automatic lights for added flare. We stripped it back to bare rafters, (all of which would have originally been used to build in the 1850s 😱), applied new batons, felt and then relaid with lovely Spanish slate. What a transformation!
